Introducing Lodi Chiropractor, Dr. Dougg Gerard

"Learning from Old Men and Starfish..." That's a story I heard a long time ago.

It's about making a difference in someone's life. Ask me about it.

What I treasure most about what I do is getting to know some wonderful people.

After finishing up my undergrad courses at San Jose State, I couldn't decide what to do. So, after a couple of seasons of teaching skiing, I moved to the beach and became a fitness trainer. I was running about 13 miles a day from the beach to the redwoods and back. Needless to say, I was very healthy. Shortly before I moved back to Lodi, I developed a severe sore throat. It just wouldn't go away. It was so severe that I often was only able to swallow liquids for days at a time. Multiple visits to the doctor ended in prescriptions and recommendations for a tonsillectomy and possibly more surgery. I was told that surgery was the only option. I decided against surgery. I just couldn't figure out how such a healthy guy (25 years old) couldn't get rid of this now severe condition.

But, there’s more...

I moved back to Lodi and met a girl who convinced me to give her doctor a try. The doctor gave me an exam, took some x-rays of my neck (the ONLY thing the others didn't do) and then adjusted my neck. It felt good. Three weeks later my sore throat was gone. I've never had it since. The experience changed my life. I decided that I had to find out more about this stuff so I decided to go to chiropractic school myself. That was 28 years ago.

Oh, by the way, I married that girl...

We adjust the children of Lodi, too!

I enrolled at Palmer College-West and got onto the fast track. I was able to graduate in three years instead of four. Back to Lodi I came. Twenty-three years later, I still love it like the day I graduated!

What I treasure most about what I do is getting to know some wonderful people. You know, when most people enter our office, they're not in the best of spirits. I consider it an honor to have the opportunity to help them. When a new person enters our office, I have been given the chance to make a difference in their lives. WOW! I always strive to give people what they came for; and more. If, per chance, we are unable to help someone, I will find someone who can.

Dr . Dougg Asks some important questions of interest to Lodi residents - Chiropractor Lodi Dr . Dougg Asks...

How come medical doctors don't recommend chiropractic?
That's changing. Years of prejudice and bias are giving way to research showing the benefits of chiropractic care. As more and more Lodi folks seek alternatives to drugs and surgery, more and more medical practitioners are referring their patients to chiropractors.
If you have a fever, are you sick or healthy?
Chiropractors love asking this question because it gets to the root of the chiropractic difference. Turns out fevers, vomiting, coughing and even sneezing are all healthy responses. It means your body is working correctly. Taking medications to suppress these natural processes can actually prolong your recovery.
