What is Decompression Therapy?

An FDA-approved method of relieving pain and disability, Decompression therapy helps our patients by repairing damaged spinal discs and reversing nerve degradation.  Following an examination by Dr. Gerard, a computer-controlled device gently distracts (pulls very slightly apart) your spinal discs.  This decompression of the discs lets oxygen and blood flow into affected areas to speed up healing and relieve pain.

The therapy is totally safe and our patients report that it is also totally comfortable. You are always in control of your decompression therapy experience. The system has emergency stop switches for both the patient and the operator. These switches are a requirement of the FDA and terminates the treatment immediately, avoiding any injuries.

Are the treatment results permanent?

This therapy has an impressive 86% success rate in treating herniated and degenerative discs with a 4% re-occurrence rate after one year. Typically additional treatments are not required after the completion of the treatment protocol. However, as with any treatment there are always severe cases that involve particular job/lifestyle activities that may require re-evaluations.

Spinal Decompression Therapy is particularly helpful for patients suffering from:

  • Chronic mid and lower back pain
  • Hip pain
  • Sciatica

Dr . Dougg Asks some important questions of interest to Lodi residents - Chiropractor Lodi Dr . Dougg Asks...

How come medical doctors don't recommend chiropractic?
That's changing. Years of prejudice and bias are giving way to research showing the benefits of chiropractic care. As more and more Lodi folks seek alternatives to drugs and surgery, more and more medical practitioners are referring their patients to chiropractors.
If you have a fever, are you sick or healthy?
Chiropractors love asking this question because it gets to the root of the chiropractic difference. Turns out fevers, vomiting, coughing and even sneezing are all healthy responses. It means your body is working correctly. Taking medications to suppress these natural processes can actually prolong your recovery.
